Mint and hardly used condition Hublot MDM automatic wristwatch. Hublot are a hugely successful Swiss watch company manufacturing high quality watches. They have just bought BNB, who were suppliers of high end tourbillion movement to companies such as Hublot. The acquisition included 30 watchmakers, mechanics and technicians and all of the machinery. Also with many high profile sponsorship deals such as with Manchester United, with Sir Alex Ferguson and many of the players wearing Hublot watches, they are now well positioned to become one of Switzerland’s, and the world’s best know watch makers. Other partnership and sponsorship deals include Morgan cars, Ayrton Senna Foundation, Yacht Club Courchevel, Alinghi Yacht, Polo Park Zurich, Polo Club Saint-Tropez, Ecole De Ski De Courchevel and Dario Cologna. Hublot was born out of a desire to transcend contemporary watch design and produce a unique watch line. Creator Carlo Crocco acquired strong notions of beauty growing up in a family of watchmakers, and by 1977 had designed his first watch. In 1980 he established his own company, MDM Genève, hoping to create a watch whose elegant and sporty design would be appreciated the world over. Crocco was determined to develop a watch that not only had pure lines and a respect for the materials used, but one that transcended changing fashions and could be worn in both elegant and informal situations. His first rule was simplicity: no superfluous design elements. The look was modelled after a porthole (Hublot, in fact, is French for porthole). Colleagues and competitors were dubious when Carlo Crocco presented the Hublot watch at Basel Fair in 1980, but were soon won over as it went on to become the "Sensation" of the year. The Hublot became instantly recognizable, its swift acceptance surpassing all expectations. Members of several royal families spontaneously showed their enthusiasm for the Hublot, and it soon became the choice of the world's leading personalities. Carlo Crocco had taken a bold risk, and in a few short years Hublot watches were elevated into the exclusive circle of prestige Swiss watch making houses. The watch is a simple yet stylish and slim line watch made from stainless steel. The case design is true to the original concept of Hublot and is shaped like a ship’s porthole. It has a Swiss made automatic movement. It has got a scratch resistant sapphire crystal and screw down crown and screw on case back with six screws holding it down. It is water resistant to 5 ATM. The dial is matte silver with a date at the 3 position. The hands and dial markings are blued steel giving it a lovely fresh appeal. Hublot branding and Hublot logo at the 12 position. The strap is a fine silicone rubber strap with Hublot signed butterfly deployant clasp. It comes complete with all boxes, papers and peripherals, the papers are stamped by the authorised dealer but undated. UK Retail price is £1,400 (US $2,240) Dimensions are: width 37 mm excluding the crown, 39 mm including the crown, lug to lug 42 mm, thickness 8 mm Ref. NWW 654.  sold

Mint condition Maurice Lacroix Automatic Flyback Chronograph.  Maurice Lacroix are a young company, but one of the fastest growing watch companies in the world.  They employ traditional craftsmen and Swiss watchmakers in their factory in the Jura region of Switzerland working to time served traditions.  At the same time they have over 4,000 agents in 45 different countries worldwide. This watch has seen very little use and is in immaculate condition. It has an attractive galvinised silver plate dial with dauphine style hour and minute hands. The chronograph and sub seconds hands are blued steel which contrasts nicely against the silver dial. The dial is laid out in a tri compax design, making it symmetrical and evenly balanced. More so it is balanced as the date is a big date at the upper centre of the dial. The date display is on two separate wheels to give the big date appearance as a single wheel cannot give such a big date. There are two date windows for the display which are angled and the numbers are fancy numbers in the display. The case is stainless steel with sapphire crystal to the front and back. The lugs and case sides are tiered giving it a classical look to it, this is also added by the square pushers and round crown. The movement is a Dubois Depraz modular type movement which is in excellent working order. The watch has no visible signs of wear, and the strap too is in as new condition. The strap is original and signed with original buckle and the strap is black crocodile leather. It comes with all boxes and papers.  Another outstanding value for money watch.  Dimensions are 40 mm excluding crown, 43 mm including crown and 44 mm lug to lug and 14mm thick. Mint condition, old and barely used Rado Original automatic wristwatch. This watch has a lot of clever features not immediately noticeable from first glance, but a lot of thought has gone into the construction and design all detailed below.   Rado's headquarters are situated in Lengnau near Biel, Switzerland. The company has a workforce of about 300 in Switzerland and abroad. The company celebrated its 90th birthday in 2007. At the same time, Rado looked back on fifty years of watch production and 40 successful years with the legendary DiaStar collection. In 1957, after 40 years as a supplier of watch movements, the firm launched its first collection under the brand name Rado. And only five years later, with the legendary oval DiaStar – the world's first scratchproof watch – the foundation stone was laid for an exceptional success story.  For Rado, the development of a new watch means coming to terms with Time, in the quest for an outstanding creation that captivates with its materials and its form. Thus, the form of the watches does not simply mirror their functionality but embodies a philosophy that manifests itself in the design of the watch. The attainment of such sophisticated objectives requires designers who understand the scratchproof Rado materials and development engineers who can work together with the designers.  Rado watches truly combines exquisite form with function, as the movement accuracy embedded within the watch internally complements its durable exterior.  The Original Automatic is based on one of their early 1970’s designs.  It is a handsome and sporty looking watch, with a pleasant looking a dial.  The case is substantial, large and heavy, it is constructed from stainless steel.  The top bezel though, where it would usually pick up marks is made from scratch resistant tungsten carbide.  It has got a scratch resistant faceted sapphire crystal as well.  The watch has got a screw down crown for water resistance.  It has got a solid steel screw on case back, again for water resistance.  The watch is rated at 300 metres or 1,000 feet water resistant.  It has got a mat black dial, silver seconds ring with red markings in the primary number positions and red sweep second hand.  These colour codes give the watch and unique look and charisma.  It has a date at the 4 position.  It comes on a stainless steel bracelet with hidden push button deployant clasp, the folding part of the clasp is made from titanium for maximum security and strength.  The watch comes with full box and paper set with blank warranty card. UK retail price is £845 (US $1,420).  Dimensions are: width 41 mm excluding the crown, 43 mm including the crown, lug to lug 54 mm, thickness 12.5 mm Ref. NWW 653.  Price is £395 or US $645

Virtually brand new, and mint condition, hardly worn U-Boat Thousands of Feet hand wound wristwatch. UK retial price is £2,200 (US $3,520). U-Boat Watches - Back in 1942 the "Officine Fontana" was poised to produce a professional watch for the distinguished officers of its navy’s U-Boats. Though the project was ultimately scrapped, the distinctive original drawings, color samples and innovative materials were lovingly preserved for more than 60 years. In 2000, Italo Fontana, a cousin of the watchmaker’s late founder, made a long held company dream come true with the launch of today’s inspired U-Boat brand. U-Boat watches, just like their original namesake, are bold, aggressive and oversized. These timepieces embodied force and style and revealed the unique personality of the man behind the revival, Italo Fontana. The Thousands Of Feet Series is a  sensation of limitless time, distances above and beneath the Ocean, this is bold, aggressive and oversized. These timepieces embodied force and style and revealed the unique personality of the man behind the revival. The watch is a large, heavy and substantial watch, it is not for somebody who likes a small watch, its not for somebody who likes a big watch, it is for people who like huge watches. It is an almighty 50 mm across and 15 mm thick. It is a huge chunk of metal. It is a functional and practical looking watch. As the name suggests, Thousands of Feet, it has got a submariner influence about it, and has a dial designed in a depth guage look, with bold numerals, hands and dial markings. At the same time it also has a clock look to it as well, especially in the case design. The dial is black with off yellow dial markings giving the appearance of reading the clock in low level lighting such as on board a submarine, yet it is highly legible at the same time. It has got a spinning indicator at the 3 position, not quite a sub second hand, but just an indicator to let you know that the clock is ticking,. There is also a red dot above this which is sandwich effect as the dot is on a layer beneath an aperture in the dial. Presumably this is a feature on a submarine instrument as it seems to have no real function on the watch other than to make it look good. The case is screwed from the top. The movement is a Swiss made Unitas 6497. The crown is set on the left side of the watch so it does not dig into the wrist. It has got a glass display case back, it is water resistant to 100 metres. Comes on a black calf leather strap, box and unstamped warranty card with spare canvas strap. Ref NWW 646. Price is £1,195 or US $1,925

Used but excellent condition Tutima Military chronograph in Titanium. Currentl UK retail price for the watch is £2,285 (US $3,716). The Tutima Military Chronograph is one of the watches that are used by the present day German and Nato military forces. It was adopted by the armed forces for issue to pilots, officers and special forces. The reasons were not only for the reliability, durability and robustness, but also the unique design of the control buttons for the chronograph functions. Instead of the usual protruding buttons, they used large spaced push buttons integrated into the case. This feature facilitated operation, particularly when wearing gloves, as well as reducing protruding parts that could interfere or cause injury to the wearer. The buttons however did not affect the 10 ATM water resistance of the watch. It uses the tried and tested Lemania 5100 automatic movement. The 5100 has passed countless endurance tests with flying colours. Its robustness, reliability and precision under even the toughest of conditions is partly due to the refinement and evolution of it as well as the number of moving parts being kept to a bare minimum without impairing the functions. The watch is designed as an instrument and provides instant legibility as it has a sharply contrasting dial. The sixty minute elapsed timer is one of the large centre hands, with the red t-bar tip, which provides very good legibility for elapsed timing without having to look in the smaller sub dials. Has a 24 hour indicator at the 12 position, twelve hour elapsed timer at the 6 position, and sixty second elapsed timer is the large red sweep centre second hand. The subsidiary seconds is at the 9 position and day and date at the 3 position. The crystal is sapphire with anti reflective coating.  It has a recessed screw down crown and is water resistant to 20 bar (approximately 200 metres).  The internal bezel has 12 hour markings for additional elapsed time functionality. Has fliplock safety buckle on the clasp and flight suit extension. Comes with warranty card black leatherette box and outer box and papers. Outstanding and very impressive and imposing looking wristwatch. Tutima reference is 760-02. Comes with Tutima leatherette inner box but no papers,  Width is 43 mm excluding crown, 45 mm including crown, Lug to lug is 50 mm, Thickness is 15 mm Ref: NWW 648.  Price is £1,295 or US $2,125

B173 Sinn 5.jpg (60007 bytes)

Used but mint condition, used just a handful of times absolutely beautiful Sinn 103 hand wound chronograph with spectacular good looks, a first rate movement and pedigree to suit.  The hand wound 103 is limited to only 300 pieces. The Sinn Flieger 103 is one of Sinn’s most successful watches.  It is one of the models which has shaped the reputation of the Sinn and has become an ambassador of the company.  The 103 has been in production for nearly ten years now.  The 103 hand wound is aimed to please the connoisseurs, enthusiasts and collectors since a new model hand wound watch is seldom seen in modern watch making.  The movement is a modified Valjoux 7750, and referred to as a Valjoux–ETA 7760.  The automatic winding rotor has been removed and replaced with a hand winding mechanism.  This has been done to satisfy the enthusiasts of classical and original timepieces who appreciate the aesthetics and the daily interaction with the hand winding mechanism.  The hand winding ritual each day is an interaction that creates a bond between man and machine.  It is something that becomes very personal to the wristwatch enthusiast as it represents a return to traditional values, which are so often disrespected and forgotten in today’s high tech and computer age.  Not only does this watch offer a traditional hand wound mechanism, it also appeals to the collector as the movement is decorated with a complex pearl cross section and Geneva stripe finish.  The components are rhodium plated with blued screws and has a Sinn engraved bridge.  The front of the watch has a domed sapphire crystal with anti reflective coating.  The dial is mat black with white sub dials and luminous hands and baton style dial markings . The watch also has the characteristic pilots rotating bezel, which is a non ratchet friction type.  The bezel, is a high grade steel with an anodised aluminium bezel insert. It is a typical pilot bezel with a count down minute scale.  The case is made form high grade sinless steel which is has a polished finish.  It has a screw down crown and screw down pushers for maximum security and water resistance of up to 20 ATM (approx 200 metres).  Has a day and date at the 3 position.  Altogether a real collectors classic which also happens to be an absolute stunner.  Ref: NWW 649. sold

Used but mint condition, originally purchased from us in May 2009 making it 7 months old when it came into stock.  The Sinn 756 UTC DIAPAL is chronograph with a completely lubricant free escapement, which is a world first.  Every wristwatch requires a service every few years as  the escapement wheels and pallets need lubricating to avoid friction.  Sinn used the technological innovations of the space program to develop a lubrication free escapement called DIAPAL, which is a reference to the friction reducing technique of replacing the ruby pallet stones with diamonds, hence the name DIAmond PALlets.  The diamond pallets are then fitted to the traditional movements, in this case the Valjoux 7750, so you have the tried and tested Valjoux 7750, which is the world standard for automatic chronographs, which has been modified with space age technology to make it friction free.  This is a technology which has been years in the making at the Sinn labs.  In addition to the movement The cases are treated with “Tegiment” process.  This is the process where the ice-hardened outer layer of special anti-corrosive stainless steel is hardened to 1,200 Vickers which is four times harder than nickeliferous high grade stainless steel used in other high quality stainless steel watches.  This steel process is rarely found in watches, but is more often found in surgical instruments, and aerospace and aviation.  Has a sapphire crystal, screw down crown and is water resistant to 20 ATM.  The dial is anthracite in colour with black sub dials and is an attractive and striking looking watch.  The UTC hand is a dual time indicator and is independently set of the main hands and points to a second time zone.  If you do not want a second time zone showing, the hand can be set to move in synchronization with the hour hand and it fits behind it perfectly so it will never be seen. Width is 40 mm excluding crown and 45 mm including crown Lug to lug is 47 mm, Thickness is 14 mm.  Ref NWW 639. Price is £1,395 or US $2,295

Eterna have been producing high quality watches since their formation in 1856 in Grenchen, Switzerland.  They have been responsible for many horological innovations including the 1948 production of the world’s first automatic wristwatch on a ball bearing mounted rotor – a huge technological achievement of the era, and the Eterna logo still today bears, the five ball bearings.  Then, there was the world’s very first alarm wristwatch, the smallest self-winding movement, the thinnest quartz wristwatch of all times with a mere 0.98 mm, the smallest quartz movement for ladies’ watches, and on and on.  For connoisseurs of Swiss quality timepieces, all these accomplishments transformed the name Eterna into a genuine legend.  The full calendar chronograph watches were highly popular in the 1950’s. They have recently had a resurgence in popularity due to several reasons, one being their usefulness in their functionality as they have a twelve hour chronograph, a full calendar, and secondly because some of them such as this Eterna mimics the designs of the 1950’s and it is a classic watch but built to modern standards and specifications, with modern materials and a more durable and reliable modern movement.  The movement is a mechanical Swiss made self winding movement which is a Swiss made 25 jewel Valjoux 7751. Functions include twelve hour automatic chronograph, phases of the moon, date pointer, day of week and month. It has got a lightly domed sapphire crystal, solid gold case back and is a hefty weighing in watch. The case is solid 18 karat gold, it is a limited edition of only 1,000 pieces and this one is number 651, it comes with the original buckle on a replacement strap. It ahs an Eterna box and undated papers, but the date is around 6 to 8 years old when the Les Historiques collection was launched. Rare watch. Universal Genève have long since been one of Switzerland’s eminent watchmakers.  They were founded in 1894 in Le Locle in the Jura mountains.  After they achieved rapid growth and success, they relocated to Geneva in 1934 and set out to conquer the world with a production of quality timepieces, which is the result of research, competence and sheer passion.  They have been responsible for many innovations in watch making and still operate today with as much success as they did when they first set out over a hundred years ago.  The Senna watch is a symbol of refinement both in style and the use of modern materials.  The “41” represents the essence of the Formula One World Champion himself: perfection, precision and an international outlook.  Ayrton Senna won 41 Grand Prix races, hence the name.  The Senna foundation is a non profit making charity.  All profits from the Senna foundation go towards child development charities.  The Senna watch gives a whole new dimension to the notion of measuring time and appeals to the discerning customer who identify themselves with quality watch making.  The automatic chronograph is contemporary and stylish, and is the embodiment of flare and creativity as found in the high speed world motor racing.  The case is solid and substantial stainless steel trimmed with carbon fibre.  The screw down pushers and crown are carbon fibre lined which makes them easy to grip and light to use.  It also has every odd link in the bracelet made of carbon fibre.  The bracelet has the Senna logo on the clasp and has a fliplock safety buckle on the clasp.  Has a sapphire crystal, water resistant to 200 metres, has a day and date and attractive “racing” patterns within the sub registers.  Comes with warranty card, booklets, very heavy tin made out of steel and outer box. Also comes with the original press release pack when it was launched in the UK – the UK launch was in Harrods in London, and some of the literature is on Harrods letter headed paper.   Dimensions are 41 mm excluding crown, 44 mm including crown and 45 mm lug to lug and 15 mm thick. Mint condition and hardly used Jean Richard Bressel automatic chronograph.  Daniel Jean Richard was born around 1665 in La Sange, today a small Swiss village nestled in the famous watch making region between La Locle and La Chaux-de-Fonds. He was a very talented silver smith making jewelry and silver objects.  A jewelry dealer who saw his work asked him to repair an expensive watch.  Not only did he repair the watch without any training in watch making, but he managed to build an exact replica of the watch from memory over a year later.  In the 1990’s the company was revived by the SoWind Group who also own Girard Perregaux.  Today and from the beginning, the idea was to produce simple, affordable, yet high quality watches song high quality stainless steel rather than precious metals, robust cattle leather straps rather than expensive crocodile or ostrich, and using strong and durable movements.  All of the savings made in these areas are invested in the construction of the watch to produce best quality timepieces.  This one looks like it has hardly been used, but was purchased in October 2003 so just under three years old.  It is a magnificent shaped and sized watch, which is round with long lugs, extended pump pushers and over sized crown.  It has a black dial with silver hands and number/baton markings with white and red dial print.  The case is polished stainless steel with screw on solid steel case back. The movement is an ETA modular movement, it has a curved sapphire crystal.  Comes on the original black leather strap with signed deployant clasp.  It comes with inner box, outer box, and instruction/warranty booklet.  UK Retail price is £1250 (US $2200). Mint condition Eberhard & Co Champion Mareoscope automatic chronograph. This is a wonderful collectors classic as it is a rare and very unusual watch. One especially for those who are enthusiasts of Lemania calibre watches. Eberhard & Co have been in existence since 1887, and have been a strong trademark ever since they began production over 100 years ago.  They are a Swiss company based in the Chaux-de-Fonds famous watch making region of Switzerland.  The Champion Mareoscope is an accurate well made, unusual and unique looking wristwatch. This is a rare watch and seldom seen. It has got an equally rare Lemania 5190 movement which is a variation on the 5100. It has got some of the 5100 features such as the two central chronograph hands, one for the sixty seconds elapsed time and one for the sixty minute elapsed time. The twelve hour elapsed time is at the 12 positions and the sub dial at the 9 position shows the subsidiary seconds. The sub dial at the 3 position makes the watch unique in that this is a 24 hour tide chronograph which indicates high and low tide in relation to phases of the moon which are shown at fixed positions. The dial configuration in this format is the tri compax style. The movement is a stopping movement so when pulling the crown out to set the time, the movement stops to allow accurate time setting. The case is polished and matte stainless steel and it has got a steel screw on case back showing the makers name and the words Champion Mareoscope. It has got a fixed bezel in the fashion of a tachometric scale, with the numbers in gold colour. The dial has got a telemetric scale in the outer part of the dial shown in kilometres. The dial is matt black with gold colour applied batons and hands, as well as gold colour other dial markings and accents. The combination of black and gold giving it an attractive and stylish look. The central hands are coloured in contrasting red for the sixty second elapsed indicator and the sixty minute hand is black with a red arrow tip. The crystal is acrylic and it has got a screw down crown and it is 3 ATM pressure resistant. It comes on a replacement brown alligator strap which has got a little bit of wear to it. It has got a deployant buckle on the strap, but comes with the original Eberhard signed pin buckle. It comes with the wooden inner box and outer box, with warranty card, but there are no instructions with it, so fathoming the tidal indicator is something that will only add to the quirky nature of this lovely little timepiece. Dimensions are: width is 37 mm excluding crown, 40 mm including crown and 42 mm lug to lug and thickness is 14 mm Ref. NWW 604. Price is £1,395 or US $2,295

Mint and barely used looking condition Chronoswiss Regulateur, model reference CH 1223. The Regulator clock was originated in the 18th century by Louis Berthould.  He devised the regulator dial.  His idea was that the minute hand should be very dominant, with hours and seconds rotating within separate dials integrated into the watch face.  For the very first time this arrangement made the minute hand stand out at all times.  At the time it was a groundbreaking invention, but one which also took account of an emerging trend: people were becoming increasingly interested in measuring the smallest unites of time.  They sensed a growing urge to keep a precise, uniform track of time wherever they happened to be.  This assisted from industry, trade, communications, science, navigation as well as everyday schedules such as keeping to correct timetables for transportation.  The new dial was incorporated in pendulum clocks called regulators.  The regulator clocks became very precise and were used for determining official standards until the 1960’s when they were replaced by millisecond accurate atomic clocks.  Today the precision and aesthetics of a mechanical watch hold an enduring fascination for us.  The ageless principle of its working mechanism was first re-created in wristwatch format by Chronoswiss. The Regulator is the Chronoswiss flagship product and the watch that has made the Chronoswiss brand. Chronoswiss was founded in 1982 by Gert Lang.  In 1982, the majority of watches being made were mass produced quartz controlled watches, so Chronoswiss with finely crafted mechanical movements were written off by the so called experts as the claimed that such watches would not survive the current trend for mass produced quartz watches.  However the critics forgot about the consumer, and that the consumer wished, who actually liked the watches and found that if they were going to invest a lot of money in a timepiece, it should be one that is hand crafted rather than machine produced.  In 1988 Chronoswiss became the first watchmaker to transfer the regulator dial used for large precision timepiece clocks to the wristwatch, and in doing so, created a signature watch that has come to represent the ingenuity and craftsmanship of Chronoswiss, of lasting value.  Models such as Pacific, Hora, Kairos and Orea followed, all of which being mechanical gems.  This is the Regulator and is in excellent condition.  The case is stainless steel and has a fluted bezel, slender lugs, sapphire crystal to the front and back, 3 ATM water resistant. The dial and hands are classical in design, the dial is off white ivory colour enamel style with blued hands, and subsidiary seconds at the 6 position.  Comes on replacement black leather strap with all boxes and papers.  The movement is a Chronoswiss 29 jewel finely engraved and embellished caliber C.122, which is based on an Enicar calibre 165 automatic.  It has a 38 hour power reserve and skeletonised gold plated winding rotor.  Hand crafted with Cotes de Geneve stripes.  Magnificent hand crafted watch and one to treasure.  UK list price is £3,040 or US $5,910.
