Sinn U1 Divers Automatic Wristwatch

Used but mint condition Sinn U1 on rubber strap sized to an 8.5 inch wrist, comes compelte with box and papers, originally purchased from us in April 2008 and was 7 months old when it came back into stock.  Sinn are well renowned and highly regarded in watch manufacturing as they are innovators and producers of mainly instrument, military and aviation watches.  They are know for investing large amounts of money in research and development and have some world leading technical innovations that make their watches highly desirable and collectible.  Moreover, they are fanatical about engineering standards , and the Sinn watches are over engineered, without being over designed – and at a price point that does not edge them away from the enthusiasts.   The U1 and U2 watches are indeed unique and one of a kind.  They keep in line with Sinn’s philosophy of manufacturing watches that are built to the highest standards, and employ the latest in technical developments.  The U1 and U2 are designed with specific diving use and totally impervious to water penetration.  The U1 and U2 cases are made from stainless steel that used in the construction of the outer hull of submarines.  The steel was by procured by Sinn from a steel supplier to Emden GmbH, one of Germany’s North Sea shipbuilding yards who construct submarines from the very same steel.   This submarine steel is not only extraordinarily sea water resistant (PRE value up to 38), it possesses also the highest anti magnetic quality.  Another main advantage of this steel that Sinn’s Tegiment technology could also be applied where the submarine steel can be hardened on up to 1500 Vickers.  Compared to regular 316 L stainless steel which is hardened to approximately 220 Vickers.  The Uni directional ratchet operated rotating bezel is also milled from this submarine steel.  The indices are machined directly into the bezel without the use of bezel inserts, which can corrode or come loose at deep depths.  The watch has the bezel hardened to 1,500 Vickers by the use of Sinn’s tegimented treatment in the Sinn laboratory.  Has a sapphire crystal with anti reflective coating, screw down crown with three gaskets and is water resistant to 1000 metres to DIN 8306 specification.  The watch has an ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, operating at 28,800 beats per hour, shockproof according to DIN 8308 specification and anti magnetic according to DIN 8309 specification.  It operates in temperatures between -45° Celsius to +80° Celsius due to the special lubricants in the movement applied in the Sinn laboratory.  Super Luminova luminous broad hands and dial markings for maximum legibility.  Functional and utility looking red and white hands and sweep second hand.  Comes on India “vanilla smelling” rubber strap with double push button deployant buckle and fliplock safety clasp.  Outstanding watch.  Width is 44mm, lug to lug is 50 mm, Thickness is 14.5mm.  Ref: NWW 573. sold

 

Sinn 142 Automatic Chronograph

Used but mint condition Sinn 142 automatic chronograph. This was one of Sinn’s most successful and longest standing models, but recently discontinued as the movement is now only used for military contract watches. Whilst it is discontinued, can still be serviced by any watchmaker or Sinn, who have parts to last twenty years. It is an outstanding design and looks good on the bracelet or leather straps. The genuine Sinn 142 aviation straps can be supplied by us. The watch was originally supplied by us three years ago and has seen very little use in that time as the condition is mint and appears to have been very seldom used. the 142 automatic chronograph is a watch amongst watches. It is made from stainless steel with the steel integrated style bracelet. It is a substantial and heavy watch which is solid and durable. It not only feels the part but also looks it as it is a purposeful and imposing looking watch.  Incorporating the highly functional and technical Lemania 5100 movement, this watch is a real work horse.  It is reputedly the first automatic chronograph worn in space by Reinhard Furrer on the 1985 Spacelab D1 mission.  The design is outstanding and has been around for a number of years, ignoring the fashion trends of the 80's and 90's, the watch has remained a constant and won a great deal of respect by sticking to the initial design principles, not least to mention it's durability, reliability and functionality.  Width is 41 mm excluding crown and 43 mm including crown Lug to lug is 44 mm, Thickness is 17 mm. Ollech & Wajs Toledo Chronograph 

Good condition O&W Toledo Chronograph. Whilst many of the O&W watches lean towards the practical instrument and military type watches, the Toledo is designed in a more classic style, but continues the functionality heritage with the use of the automatic chronograph. It has a deep cut fluted case producing the wide and distinguishable "coin" effect. The thick case curves above and under the coin edge with classic styled, curving and rivet effect lugs and chronograph pushers. It also has a sapphire crystal which is slightly domed, display back showing off the movement which is not decorated so does not add to the production cost - keeping this and all O&W watches on the more affordable side. Date function at the 3 position. The movement is the venerable Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph. As with all Wajs watches, this is a strong and durable watch offering outstanding value for money. None more so than this neo classical modern timepiece, which offers up the highly evolved culture of fine Swiss craftsmanship set in a timeless classical case. Quite a stunning watch, and at home on a wrist whether at work or at play. 3 ATM water resistant. No box or papers. NauticFish 300 Metre No.02

Retail price £394, price brand new here is £195. The NauticFish 300 metre is a classically styled divers wristwatch which is both appealing and functional. It is a bold and handsome looking watch with straight to the point features giving it good legibility, practical use and a style that is at home when worn with a suit or for sport activities. The case is stainless steel which is micro sanded, giving it a sand blasted effect, the case back is a screw on back and it has a screwed in winding crown with protective shoulders, the back and crown allow the 300 metres water resistance.  This water resistance is suitable for complete submergence and for recreational diving use.  Naturally, since it is a divers watch it has got a unidirectional rotating bezel for independent timing, to time dives or remaining oxygen. The watch is made with a slack bezel. The watch has got a hardened mineral crystal and soft metal core movement holder to give it anti magnetic properties.  The movement is a Swiss made, SW20A automatic winding mechanical movement whose diameter is 25.6 mm. It has got a power reserve of 38 hours operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph. The movement gives the functions of hours, minutes, seconds and modified date. The dial is a dull blue wave pattern decoration with luminous coated baton markings and sword orange hands which are luminous filled. The luminous coating is Superluminova. NauticFish 300 Metre No.03

Fortis Pilot Automatic Chronograph

Used, but excellent condition Fortis Flieger. The Fortis Flieger chronograph is the classic style pilot wristwatch designed in a traditional style to modern specifications using the finest materials. It is a large watch and designed for maximum visibility in a true pilot or navigators style.  The case is solid stainless steel with a sandblasted case finish with solid steel screw on case back. It has a water resistance of 100 metres. The watch has got a scratch resistant sapphire crystal with anti reflective coating. Matt black dial with numbers and hands with super luminova luminous coating.  It has got a quickset day and date at the 3 position. Swiss made 25 jewel Valjoux 7750 automatic movement.  Has bright red central sweep chronograph second hand and other chronograph hands are also in red. It has got a large crown and pushers for easy operation. Comes on the original sandblasted finish stainless steel bracelet with outer garment extension clasp and fliplock safety buckle. Fortis reference number is 597.22.11. No box or papers, guaranteed one hundred percent authentic and original. V-Max Freestyle

Used but Mint condition V-Max Freestyle quartz wristwatch. Originally sold by us 6 months ago, and taken back in stock as a part exchange in unworn condition. It is designed to a hard wearing and practical specification and priced at a sensible level so as to make the watch affordable to most people.  It is also designed to be worn either as an everyday watch or as a beater.  Function and form have been the prime most considerations when laying out the specification.  This is because it is meant to be a utility type watch.  To this end it has been well constructed using high grade materials, crystal, dial and movement using Swiss materials.  It has a military feel to it and the dial is based on the 1960’s Vietnam era military watches.  The case is made out of solid high grade 316 L stainless steel, which has a sandblasted finish.  The case is large and heavy.  It has got a screw down crown which is engine turned to allow easy use of the crown.  The case back is screw down and these two combined give the watch a water rating of 200 metres.  It also has a scratch resistant sapphire crystal which is a hard glass and can only be scratched by material of equivalent strength or stronger than sapphire.  The bracelet is a solid link bracelet with solid end links where it attaches to the watch.  It is sandblasted/polished finish.  The clasp is a folding clasp with double push button security release as well as a fliplock safety clasp.  It has got a uni directional ratchet operated rotating bezel with a full 60 minute scale which can be used for independent timing of up to one hour.  The movement is a Swiss made Ronda quartz powered movement.  The dial and hands are self illuminating. Small glass tubes are coated on the inside with luminous matter, filled with gaseous tritium and then sealed airtight.  The electrons emitted by the tritium gas cause activation of the luminous matter without the need to external light charging. There are 12 tritium tubes providing the luminescence.   The minute and hour hands also contain the tritium tubes making them luminous.  The luminescence is green for the dial and hands and orange at the 12 o’clock.  The watch is brand new, with a one year warranty, comes in a tin with warranty card.  Dimensions are: width is 44 mm excluding the crown, 46 mm including the crown, 48 mm lug to lug and 15 mm thick.  Ref. MWC Military Style watch

MWC military look watch in PVD black steel case. The watch is in excellent all round condition, and has not been used. It is built to the style of GS issue watches and meant as a hard wearing watch for service people. The black case is an indication of covert operations. This in not an official military issue watch though so not guaranteed for use in military conditions. It has got a quartz movement and a hardened mineral glass. It has got spring bars and comes on a brand new black nato military webbing strap. Good beater watch at fifty quid. Width is 37 mm excluding crown, 39 mm including crown. The thickness is 12 mm and the lug to lug distance is 42 mm. Ref: NWW 540. Price is £28 or US $50
