Beautiful and eye catching Schaumburg Squarematic Art Nouveau automatic chronograph.   In order to manufacture these extremely assertive watches, the master engineers require a great deal of skill and patience to machine and finish these watches. The original design of Squarematic brings about and extra-ordinary look which asserts style and elegance.  The Squarematic Chronograph is fascinating and pleasing to the eye. It is designed in a truly retro Art Nouveau style, and reminiscent of the clock and watch styles of the Nouveau era.  This is in every respect, from the colour scheme, to the dial design, to the case design.  The case is a true square where the width left to right is the same dimension as the height lug to lug.  It is machined from high grade 316L stainless steel.  It is very distinctive with heavily ridged case sides and a beveled top.  The lugs are small and discreet, they are square and in keeping, and proportional to the case design.  They have screw in bars for strap security, as well as the showing screw heads being an attractive design feature.  The case back is retained by twelve screws and has a circular glass aperture displaying the movement.  It is water resistant to 3 ATM.  The case has a brushed finish, and has well made and well finished.  It has a scratch resistant thick sapphire crystal.  The crown is double knurled with a central groove making it easy to grip. The dial is beautiful and again typical of an Art Nouveau design.  It has an off white – almost cream colour enamel style dial.  It has Roman numerals closed off in a track around the dial border with minute iterations outside them.  The sub dials are in large circular dials that take up the majority of the width of the dial.  The numerals within the sub dials are regular numerals making a nice touch against the Roman numerals.  It has a date window up at the 12 position.  The hands are blued steel and the Roman numerals are in a blue metallic compound which look stunning against the off white dial.  The watch incorporates a Swiss made 51 jewel Dubois Depraz calibre 2040 automatic movement.  The movement is rhodium plated, has blue screws and decorated with circular grain plates and Cótes de Genéve finish.  It comes on a high quality black hand made buffalo leather strap white stitching matching the dial, with signed pin buckle.  It is well presented in polished wooden box, outer box, operating instructions/warranty slip.  Dimensions are as follows: width is 40 mm square, 44 mm wide including the crown, 48 mm lug to lug and 13 mm thick. Ref. SCS 01.  Price is £945

Wonderful looking superbly designed and a classic amongst classics.  The Schaumburg Ellomatic Phase de Lune No.1, is an oautomatic moonphase full calendar wristwatch.  Like the other Schaumburg watches it is unique looking, well designed, well finished and outstanding value for money.  With the Ellomatic, It is all about the design, from the case to the dial, they have paid a great attention to the detail and the design.  The case is machined from high grade 316L stainless steel which has a brushed finish to it.  It is very distinctive as it is essentially a round case with squared off sides to the left and right and it is milled from a single block of stainless steel.  It has narrow but long lugs which are neatly proportioned and well suited to the squared case sides.  The lugs have screw in bars for strap security, as well as the showing screw heads being an attractive design feature.  The screws are almost identical in size to the recessed pushers which are used to correct the calendar functions.  There are four of these recessed pushers one on each corner of the squared off corners.  The case back is secured by ten screws and it has a glass aperture displaying the finely decorated movement.  The crown is double knurled with a central groove making it easy to grip.  Already it is obvious that this is a watch that is well designed and well thought out as it is evenly balanced and perfectly symmetrical making it pleasing to the eye.  The dial is silver plated with a ribbed central area housing the calendar functions.  Enclosed in a top circular sub dial are two apertures, one showing the day of the week and the other displaying the month.  The lower sub dial likewise has an aperture under which the phase of the moon passes.  Ti is also printed with the days of the lunar calendar.  The date is displayed by way of a central red crescent tipped hand which points to the date displayed in red print on a sloped internal fixed bezel.  The watch also has a central sweep seconds hand.  It has large black Roman numerals as well as a seconds scale.  With the sloped internal bezel, apertures and ribbed central area, it has an attractive three dimensional effect to it.  The watch has got a scratch resistant sapphire crystal.  It is water resistant to 3 ATM.  The watch incorporates a Swiss made 51 jewel Dubois Depraz calibre 9000 automatic movement. Dimensions are as follows: width is 38 mm side to side excluding the crown, 42 mm side to side including the crown, 40 mm top to bottom excluding the lugs, 48 mm top to bottom including the lugs and 13 mm thick.
