Marine Chronometer II with Roman numerals. In the 18 Century, the
carpenter John Harrison developed on behalf of the British government a
precision instrument for accurate determination of longitude at sea,
which became the first marine chronometer. These high-precision
chronometers, gimbal mounted in wooden boxes where mainly used on many
marine vessels toe ensure safe navigation around the globe until the
invention of the quartz movement and are highly collectable items today.
As a tribute to the craft and to be able to enjoy looking at this
classic design on the wrist, Steinhart has developed the series
"Marine Chronometer". The case is a large case made of
stainless steel with a brushed finish and polished steel fixed bezel. It
has a screw on case back with glass inset displaying the decorated
movement. The crystal is domed scratch resistant sapphire which is
double anti reflective coated. The dial is white with black Roman
numeral indices with blued steel hands. It has a sub second at the 6
position, and all of the looks and characteristics are that of the early
marine chronometers. The crown is a diamond type crown and a non
screwing snap crwon. The movement is a Swiss made 17 jewel Unitas 6498
hand winding movement which is decorated with Geneva stripes, gold
plated plate and blued screws. the Unitas movement is renowned
throughout the matchmaking industry as durable, robust and for its
accuracy. The water resistance is 3 ATM which is splash proof.

Brand new with 2 year warranty Steinhart Marine B-Uhr.
This is a well designed this beautiful model Marine B-Uhr which has been
taken its design on the basis of historical marine chronometer models. The
design was based on an original Gradmass B-Watch which is a deck clock,
and the Steinhart has kept as close to the original design as possible. As
is the case with many original Gradmass B-Watch, the dial is white with
Arabic numerals in black. The watch is a large size and makes a big
impression and combines classic styling, made to look vintage to high
engineering standards and at a highly competitive price. The case is made
from stainless steel which is brushed. The dial is white and a bulls eye
style with second, minute and hour tracks. Two of the circles are
completely luminous so the watch is highly legible in the dark. The
luminosity is Super Luminova white C3. The hands contrast agains the white
dial as they are in blued steel. The crystal is domed scratch resistant
sapphire which is anti reflective on the interior side and exterior sides.
It has got a screw on case back which is solid stainless steel, engraved
with Steinhart’s logo and a ships compass. The movement is a Swiss made
ETA 2824-2 automatic winding movement which is the industry standard for
Swiss and German made automatic watches. It is a 25 jewel movement with
Nivarox spring balance and Incabloc shock protection. The functions
include hours, minutes and seconds displayed by the central sweep hand.
The second hand is a hack hand which stops when setting the time for
accurate time synchronization. It is 3 ATM water resistant so splash
proof. It comes on a good quality vintage looking brown leather strap with
white stitching and signed deplopyant clasp with push button release.

This is a well designed this beautiful model Marine B-Uhr which has been
taken its design on the basis of historical submarine torpedo timers. This
beautiful model was designed using genuine historical models. This timer
was used to measure the time the torpedoes needed to reach their target.
Steinhart has used the color cream for the dial, just like the original,
in order to make it easier to read, and dial layout and format is true to
the original bomb timers used by many different navy’s.
The watch is a large size and makes a big impression and combines
classic styling, high engineering standards and highly competitive prices.
The case is made from stainless steel with a brushed finish to it. The
dial is cream with black and red hands and dial markings. Just like the
original submarine timepieces the watch is not luminous. The crown is a
push crown which is distinctive looking, over sized for easy gripping when
winding the watch or setting the time, and also contains a loop to make it
look like the original hand held timer. The crystal is domed scratch
resistant sapphire which is anti reflective on the interior and exterior
sides. It has got a screw on case back with glass inset displaying the
decorated movement. The movement is a Swiss made ETA Unitas 6497 hand
winding movement which is arguably one of the best hand winding movements
in this price bracket. It is a 17 jewel movement which is decorated with
geneva stripes to the bridges and blued screws. The functions include
hours, minutes and seconds displayed in the sub dial at the 9 position. It
is 3 ATM water resistant so splash proof. It comes on a good quality brown
leather strap with white cross stitching and signed pin buckle. The loop
on the crown can be removed. Steinhart reference number is mt001.
