Good condition IWC Ingenieur AMG automatic in titanium. IWC have been making specialised and high quality watches in Switzerland since 1868. Many of the IWC vintage watches are now prized collectors items. They are a company who continue to produce high quality and unique watches for a more demanding current market. The IWC on a wrist bears a bold statement about the wearer of one – unique, precise attention to detail, demanding of the very best on offer.  The Ingenieur for many years was considered IWC's flagship model.  All Ingenieur’s are true antimagnetic, by being true are actually called amagnetic. They have been made to not deviate more than 30 seconds per day after being exposed to a magnetic field of 4,800 A/m, although almost all models were much higher in rating.  The watch is a steel dress watch that takes on a sporty appearance and was initially designed by the legendary watch designer Gerald Genta whose services were employed by Audermars Piguet to design the Royal Oak, as well as Patek Philippe where he designed the Nautilus – the design similarities can be seen between the Inginiuer and these two mentioned models.  The watch has a 28 jewel Pellaton automatic winding movement which is an IWC Calibre 80110, with a vibration of 28 800/h / 4 Hz. With a 44-hour power reserve when fully wound. It also has an integrated shock absorption system. The legendary pawl-winding system developed by Albert Pellaton and found in the IWC-manufactured 5000 calibre has been further improved for the Ingenieur Automatic with its titanium case. In the automatic 80110-calibre automatic movement, it sets a new benchmark in reliability. Date display with crown activated rapid calendar advance. Hour and minute counters. Central stopping  seconds hand for accurate time setting, Soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields of up to 80,000 A/m, Sapphire glass antireflective on both sides. It has a screw down case back and screw down crown. The water resistance is 12 bar. These watches had a list price of £4,250, which is US $6,900. It comes on the original IWC sports leather strap with original titanium pin buckle. No box or papers, but guaranteed authentic and original. Dimensions are: width is 42 mm excluding crown, 46 mm including crown and 47 mm lug to lug and thickness is 14.5 mm. Ref. IWC 133. Price is £2,450 or US $3,975

Mint and virtually unused IWC Aquatimer Deep One reference 3527. In 1999, IWC stepped up to the mark with the introduction of the GST line. This was a model line that focused on superior design coupled with engineering excellence. The GST line was one of the model lines for bringing IWC watches into the mainstream where customers saw them in high street alongside other mainstream brands such as Rolex, Omega, Cartier, etc. Prior to this, IWC watches were seen only in a select few shops. The model, Reference 3527 Deep One is a very special diving watch. It is the big brother to the now highly collectible and sought after Aquatimer 3536. The Deep One went one step further than the 3536 in its engineering skill and was the product of especially clever watchmaking and engineering design. Powered by the 36-jewel IWC Calibre 8914, which used a Jaeger LeCoultre base movement, the watch included a unique complication. The Deep One had a mechanical depth gauge that showed the diver how deep he had descended. This unusual complication was achieved by allowing water to enter an channel inside the case through tiny holes in the lower crown – the water does not enter the mechanism, only a channel that goes around the dial. The water pressure distorted the internal channel that in turn applied pressure to the depth mechanism and produced an analogue depth reading on the dial. The secondary pressure hand also records depth but will remain at the maximum depth. So if the diver dives to 35 metres and then ascends to 20 metres, the secondary hand will remain at 30 metres to indicate maximum depth dived. If in the same dive, the diver then ascends to 40 metres, the secondary hand will move again to show the maximum depth. The Deep One was designed to be water resistant to a depth of 100 meters. The watch comes with a very nice look and again, extremely well engineered hand pump., This attached to the lower crown so that water can be pumped out of the channel once it is out of the water. This of course was not very deep when compared to the water resistance 3536 Aquatimer watches. This is due to the limitations of the case design when manufacturing the mechanical depth gauge.  In reality, it was deep enough.  It is recommended that amateur divers not descend more than 30 to 40 meters. For professional divers, they would use a professional usage depth gauge as well as a watch. The depth gauge on the Deep One only shows depths of up to 45 meters. It was reported in articles at the time of launch that the Deep One should have been called the Aquatimer, and actually the Aquatimer should have been called the Deep One on account of its 2000 metre depth rating. The mechanical depth gauge is certainly a novelty and a first in watch manufacturing. The model  was produced only for a short time and in limited quantities. Depending on various sources, it is noted that only 500 to 1,000 pieces were ever made. It was due to the complicated production technique of the watch, making it prohibitively expensive and difficult to manufacture, that only a small quantity were ever produced. One aspect of the Deep One that left its mark was its yellow arc representing the first fifteen minutes on the internal rotating bezel and the yellow minute hand. This resulted in a distinct sporty look and appealing that was adopted in the next generation of Aquatimers. The upper crown operates the internal rotating bezel, and snaps the depth gauge back to zero. The internal rotating bezel is a good solid click and has sixty clicks. The centre crown is a screw down crown that winds the watch and sets the date and the lower crown is used let the water in and out of the pressure channel as well as re-setting re winding the secondary maximum depth meter hand to zero. It has got a slightly domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It comes with all original inner box and outer box, all papers including stamped but undated warranty card, hand pump and attachment, spare velcro divers strap with titanium end links, bracelet removal and link sizing tools. The pump strap and tools come in their own smaller box which fits into the larger watch box. The bracelet is full size with all links included. All round mint condition, IWC design and engineering classic, and a guaranteed future classic. Width is 43 mm excluding the crowns, 47 mm including the crowns, lug to lug is 49 mm and thickness is 15 mm. REF IWC 114. Price is £8,495 or US $13,750

Mint and new old stock looking IWC Da Vinci Line hand wound wristwatch. The watch dates to the early 1980’s and has not been re-finished, still with the original case finish. It has been used as a Sunday best and really had absolute minimal of wear. It has been well maintained and well looked after over the years. It comes on the very stylish and well designed original bracelet. The original Da Vinci of 1969 came in a striking angular case with extra long markers and simple baton hands, a singular piece of design history and an example of the avant-garde forms that defined the period. This watch pretty much continues with that philosophy into the 1980’s and has lost very few of its original characteristics from the original Da Vinci in 1969 as it maintains its angular case shape, extra long baton markers, blued steel hands and bracelet designed taking on the form of the case shape. The bracelet is clearly one that has been designed to match the case and one taken from another IWC watch to fit this one, it has been specifically designed for it. This non compromising and traditional timepiece, and is credited with renewing much interest in fine watchmaking at a time when quartz watches threatened the traditional craft of mechanical horology. The Da Vinci has stood the test of time and has come through changes in watchmaking unscathed and as popular and sought after today as when they first were introduced in 1969. Due to this, the Da Vinci is considered an absolute classic amongst mechanical watches. Today, the IWC Da Vinci has been produced a similar replica of this in the IWC Vintage Collection in a limited edition of 500 pieces. Like this one it is uncompromisingly straight and instantly recognisable lines which underscore the watch’s identity. Some differences though, the one made today is automatic rather than this one being hand wound, and the one made today will set you back the best part of £5,000. This is a watch for somebody who loves watches or for the IWC collector, it is a rare find and one to compliment any decent IWC collection. Bracelet is a decent size and suitable for a 7.5 to 8 inch wrist. The dimensions are as follows. Width is 30 mm excluding the crown, 31 mm including the crown, 39 mm lug to lug and 7.5 mm thick. Ref. The IWC on a wrist bears a bold statement about the wearer of one – unique, precise attention to detail, demanding of the very best on offer.  This Portofino is hand wound and uses the Jaeger le Coultre caliber 849 movement.  It is a technically superior and very slim movement measuring 1.85 mm in height. Also the lack of the winding rotor makes the watch case itself slim at 9 mm in thickness. The movement itself uses 123 separate parts, beats at 21,600 vibrations and has a 35 hour power reserve.  It is a true connoisseurs watch.  It is I a delightful piece, quite old fashioned in looks especially with the old fashioned IWC logo written as IWC, beneath which International Watch Co, and Schaffhausen in copper plate style font.  It is 18 karat polished gold with solid gold case back. Mint condition IWC Porsche Design Ocean 2000 automatic wristwatch. The IWC Porsche Design Ocean 2000 is becoming a rapidly increasing in value collectors classic. IWC have been making specialised and high quality watches in Switzerland since 1868. Many of the IWC vintage watches are now prized collectors items. They are a company who continue to produce high quality and unique watches for a more demanding current market. Each IWC watch is hand finished, and made to the highest of standards, where attention to detail is of essence. Design is of the essence in many IWC watches, even more so when the design is in conjunction with one of the world's most iconic of design companies, Porsche Design. The resulting watch from this collusion is a timepiece that is designed to stylish and contemporary standard and put into the construction of a watch that is strong, durable and can last for ever. This one more so than many watches, it was originally conceived in the early 1980’s when quartz watches were starting to take over the world. This collaboration between two of the most famous engineering and design companies in the world managed to stave off the competition and became a best seller. It is water resistant to 2000 metres which was fare superior to its closest competitor, even the famous Rolex Sea Dweller. This is due to the combination of the engineering ability and the case design, being pebble like in shape and domed extra thick crystal to allow resistance under extreme pressure and it was reputedly able to withstand pressures of 3200 metres. The watch was such an achievement of engineering being strong, durable, accurate and everything that a watch should be, that it was issued to the German military forces. This contract resulted in the famed Ocean 2000 BUND timepieces, which have since become some of the most sought after military watches. It was issued to naval service men and officially a mine-clearance diver’s wristwatch. As well as being a practical and strong watch, it is also strikingly good looking made in a contemporary looking style and 30 years on from its original conception, it looks like a watch that could have been designed yesterday, such is the forward thinking of the designer of the watch – reputed to be FA Porsche himself. The bracelet has the appearance of being integrated and a part of the case with a stylish looking link system on the bracelet. The case and bracelet are made from titanium so it is very strong and tough, with a slight utility look about it but adds to the design conscious build of the watch. The watch has a screw down crown, convex sapphire crystal of grade 9 hardness. Comes on full bracelet suitable for approximately 7.5 to 8 inch wrist, additional links are available from IWC should they be required. This is one outstanding watch.  Dimensions are: width is 40 mm excluding crown, 42 mm including crown, 44 mm lug to lug and thickness is 15 mm.  Ref. IWC 128. reserved

Mint condition IWC Fliegeruhr UTC. It has been discontinued for a a few years and this seems to be one of the last UTC’s with the matte dial and white numerals, bought from authorised dealers in July 2008 so just about 1.5 years old when taken into stock and still under manufacturer warranty. The IWC Flieger UTC is an automatic wristwatch with 24 hour second timezone indicator giving global travellers a fixed time reference point – an essential function for multiple purposes from navigation, flight planning, time calculations to phoning home. This is model reference number 3521. . This is the more desirable and collectible pre Spitfire Fliegeruhr UTC. The later Spitfire model has a more dressy and less instrument feel with polished dial and polished hands and numerals. This one however is a matt dial with white luminous numbers, hands and hour markers. This is true to the original form of the Fliegeruhr watches Like all other IWC watches this one is made to exceptional standards and each IWC watch is hand finished, and made to the highest of standards, where attention to detail is of essence. The Fliegeruhr UTC like most IWC watches is plain, simple and uncluttered yet the minimalist and simplistic approach to the designs provide an unrestrained elegance. This is apparent in the Fliegeruhr UTC as well as most other IWC watches. It is distinctive looking and immediately recognisable due to its unique and seldom seen UTC – or dual time function displayed in the window at the top center of the dial. This is a 24 hour display of UTC (universal time co-ordinated with TZC (time zone corrector). This simply meaning the main clock hands can be set independently of the second dime zone indicator. UK Retail price is £3,795 (US $6,126). Please note the first picture is a catalogue scan as it is quite difficult to pick out the colours in the photographs. This is a true professional instrument and is water resistant to 2000 metres. IWC have been making specialised and high quality watches in Switzerland since 1868. The IWC on a wrist bears a bold statement about the wearer of one – unique, precise attention to detail, demanding of the very best on offer. The Aquatimer is just one such watch. The Aquatimer first appeared in 1965 and now the legendary name has come to life again, this time, better, stronger, more durable than ever before. The external rotating bezel, whose arrowhead index marks the beginning of the dive, likewise gives the Aquatimer Chronograph in stainless steel a striking new face. To ensure that they stand out clearly, the first quarter of the bezel and the minute hand are finished in luminescent marine colours, orange combined with a dark blue dial. The diver’s watch, which is water-resistant to 12 bar, has increased slightly in girth over its predecessor and, thanks to the Super-LumiNova coating, is considerably more legible. The much lighter sub dials for the minute and hour counters also make it easier to read stopped times under water. The crystal is scratch resistant sapphire, spherical with antireflective coating on both sides. The crown is screwed down with a screw on case back allowing the 12 bar of water resistance and makes it suitable for diving.  The movement  is an IWC calibre 79320, which is a 25 jewel automatic winding Swiss made movement operating a vibration rate of 28 800/h / 4 Hz and has a power reserve of 44 hours. The uni directional rotating bezel is nice and secure with good solid clicks. The numbers on the bezel are also luminous. The width is 44 mm excluding crown, 48 mm including crown. The thickness is 15.5 mm and the lug to lug distance is 52 mm. Ref. BRL 121. Price is £2,975 or US $4,895

Mint condition and highly collectible IWC Porsche Design automatic compass watch. This watch was originally released in 1974, intended for use with the German military and it was indeed issued with success to military forces, however there are no issue stamps on this one so it is a civilian model. The movement is fully automatic, Swiss made 25 jewel. The dial is mat black with contrasting red sweep second hand and quick set date at the 3 position with black wheel and white print. The luminosity on the dial is fading nicely to give it a slightly aged look. Because of the mechanical compass feature, the watch was made of aluminium instead of steel, so as not to interfere with the magnetism that the compass requires to operate. It was originally produced with two finishes, the anodised military green and anodised black finish, this one is black which is more wearable than the green finish. The watch features a mechanical compass. This is revealed by pressing the buttons on each side of the watch case at the 6 position. The clicking in and out is a nice secure click. The watch head is lifted and can rest on an internal latch so it does not fall shut when being operated. It clicks open and closed smoothly and easily on the latch. The compass can be rotated independently of the case by use of a hand turning bezel. It also has a signal mirror on the underside of the movement case, opposite the compass. The watch also features sighting guides (there are two notches on the left hand side of the case one below the 7 o'clock mark and one above the 11 o'clock mark for sighting and taking compass bearing). The bracelet is original to the watch with an IWC signed clasp. It is a safety clasp and a little bit fiddly so care should be taken in operating it. The clasp. To open it, it has a release button. To close it, the clasp extends forwards, it folds into position, then the clasp needs pulling back in the opposite direction to secure it into place. There is also a quick release when the clasp is open which is operated by a button. This releases the bracelet from the clasp. This cannot be done when the clasp is closed. Comes with original inner box and outer box, plus an extract from the archives indicating that the watch was originally purchased in Salzburg, Austria in 1981. Dimensions are as follows: width is 39 mm excluding the crown, 42 mm including the crown, lug to lug is 46 mm and thickness is 13 mm. Ref. IWC 117.2195 reserved

Mint and unused looking condition IWC Flieger Chronograph originally purchased August 2000. It has recently come back from IWC where it had a complete service and overhaul and as such works and looks like it is brand new. The cost of the service was £500 (US $1,000). The previous owner of the watch did not wear it since it returned from its service so it is in factory fresh condition. There is still one year left remaining on the service warranty. The plastic seals on the case back is still in tact from the service as it is not worn since the service. This is another IWC watch that is regarded as a classic as it is a discontinued model and they are becoming rarer and hard to find.  This particular one more so as it has got the earlier T Swiss Made T dial which is a tritium dial and one that is more desirable to collectors rather than the more recent luminova a dials. Adding to the collectibility of this particular model is the earlier bracelet where the links are more flat than the current style. An IWC is one of the most desirable watches to own and the Flieger Chronograph is one of the most desirable IWC watches. It is made to exceptional standards. Each IWC watch is hand finished, and made to the highest of standards, where attention to detail is of essence. This is a large and solid watch, with solid stainless steel case and bracelet. It is a 3 register chronograph with day and date at the 3 position, subsidiary seconds at 9. The twelve hour elapsed timer is at 6 and the thirty minute elapsed timer is at 12. The special feature on the Doppelchrono is the rattrapante or the split second feature where there is two central sweep chronograph hands which can work independently of one another and the secondary hand is operated by the pusher at the 10 position. Uncluttered and functional dial, with the only markings being the hours and the 60 second chronograph markings. The subsidiary second sub register is without an outline so as the chronograph functions are kept separate from the time functions. Has a screw down crown, sapphire crystal of grade 9 hardness, 25 jewel movement, water resistant to 60 metres, power reserve of 44 hours. Comes in original IWC box, instructions, guarantee booklet and unsigned guarantee card.  This is one outstanding watch. Comes with the original box, papers, warranty card and warranty card from IWC from the service. Good condition IWC Ingenieur automatic in steel on steel bracelet model reference IW322701. It was originally purchased from IWC authorized dealers in November 2005. The legendary pawl-winding system developed by Albert Pellaton and found in the IWC-manufactured 5000 calibre has been further improved for the Ingenieur Automatic with its stainless steel case and stainless steel bracelet, Reference 3227. Comes complete with box and papers  Dimensions are: width is 42 mm excluding crown, 46 mm including crown and 47 mm lug to lug and thickness is 14.5 mm. IWC Portuguese automatic chronograph in 18 karat gold in good condition.  Three years old, purchased in March 2006. The Portuguese first came into being in the 1930’s when IWC made watches for two Portuguese businessmen, they continued the production of the Portuguese line and named them after the first two customers.  It is particularly apt that the watch should be so named, since the Portuguese once ruled the seas with superior navigational skills.  They took a great interest not only in navigation but also precise time measurement, and that is certainly something not amiss with IWC watches.  This watch is one of the most stunning looking watches being made today.  It is a large and heavy 18 karat gold case with solid case back.  The width is exaggerated to look larger as the dial is taken right up to the edge of the case.  It has a stunning black dial with gold applied numerals, and tapering swallow style hands.  The chronograph hands are also in gold.  It has a curved sapphire crystal, and automatic chronograph with the thirty minute elapsed timer at the 12 position, and the 60 second elapsed timer being the sweep hand.  The subsidiary seconds are at the 6 position.  Has an attractive seconds scale on a sloped internal bezel. Comes on high quality IWC signed brown leather strap and signed 18 karat gold buckle which is heavy in weight. The strap is 3 years old and is showing signes of wear, some marks to the case and bezel from normal use, but can be polished up to look new, but best left original.  It comes with all paperwork including signed warranty card, newer style “hard” inner box and outer box.   The UK list price of this watch is £7,850 (US $14,300). Dimensions are as follows. The width is 41 mm excluding crown, and 44 mm including the crown. The thickness is 13 mm and the lug to lug distance is 47.5 mm. Ref: IWC 102. sold

The Fliegeruhr UTC like most IWC watches is plain, simple and uncluttered yet the minimalist and simplistic approach to the designs provide an unrestrained elegance. Many of the IWC vintage watches are now prized collectors items. They are a company who continue to produce high quality and unique watches for a more demanding current market. Similarly, it has got a large and prominent crown which is also signed with the IWC logo. The watch has got a matte silver dial, with beautifully contrasting gold applied numerals and hands.  It has a day and date at the 3 position. It comes on the original brown leather strap which is signed with signed steel IWC deployant buckle. It has an anti reflective convex sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 3 ATM. Unless, of course, the intermediate and aggregate timing functions made possible by the 79320 calibre are so meticulously and discreetly integrated into the dial as in this model. Virtually brand new and unused IWC Flieger Big Pilot watch IWC model reference number IW500201, originally purchased in 2005. The watch has seen very little use and is outstanding condition showing no visible signs of wear to the naked eye. The3 watch runs to a six second gain over a 24 hour period, tested on Elmamatic electronic timing machine. This is the earlier version Big Pilot and more expensive and collectible than the current Big Pilot IW500402. This is due to the dial design on the original being more purist and true to the form of the original pilot watches. Since 2002, the Big Pilot’s Watch has been IWC’s flagship product. Its IWC manufactured 51111 calibre – one of the largest automatic movements in the world – contains all the features that have proved their worth in the long history of IWC mechanical watches. Within no time at all, the automatic movement generates a power reserve of 8.5 days, but only runs for seven before an ingenious little mechanism automatically stops it. This is because the torque that drives the movement decreases as the mainspring winds down, leading to a loss of amplitude in the balance and the unacceptable possibility of inaccuracy. Being know as the Big Pilot, as the name suggests, this is a large watch and designed to the original war time pilot size watches. They needed to be big for pilots to be able to see them instantly with high visibility when reading off cockpit instruments. It is a handsome durable and practical looking watch, with minimum of dial and design frills, it is just straight to the point and does it’s job exceptionally well.  It is one of the best looking IWC watches, and one of the most desirable of IWC’ watches and one of the best military or aviation style watches available – based on the enormously successful and influential war time models, it is a design classic and iconic wristwatch.  It is made to usual Swiss fanatically high standards and each IWC watch is hand finished, and made to the highest of standards, where attention to detail is of essence. The watch has got an Automatic Pellaton winding system, with power reserve display at the 3 position, and the watch has a seven day power reserve when fully wound, has a central sweep second hand with stopping mechanism for accurate time setting, a big date at the 6 position, scratch resistant convex sapphire crystal with antireflective coating on both sides and secured against displacement by drop in air pressure, The movement is surrounded by a soft iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields. It is an IWC caliber 51111 movement Swiss made automatic with 42 jewels. The movement has a Glucydur beryllium alloy balance with high-precision adjustment cam on the balance bars and Breguet spring. The watch also features a large pilot style crown which is a screw down crown for security and water resistance, the resistance is 6 bar which is rated for low submergence in water (not tested).  It comes in box, all papers, stamped authorised dealer warranty card and outer box. Also comes with Sinn branded black Di-Modell Chronissimo aviation strap costing £75. The original strap was taken off to preserve it, but is the original buffalo brown leather IWC branded aviations strap with deployant clasp. IWC were once a supplier to the German and British military forces. The RAF pilots wore this style watch, albeit smaller. The Luftwaffe wore the larger watches. The RAF and Luftwaffe issued watches are one of the most collectible of all military watches. It is a heavy watch weighing in at 147 grams. The dimensions are as follows: Width is 46 mm excluding crown and 52 mm including crown, lug to lug is 55 mm, Thickness is 16 mm.  Ref. IWC 65. sold
