Operating the Chronograph by Means of the Pushers      Chronograph Functions index

Some chronographs, those with triple action pusher type, have a single pusher on the side of the case or just inside the winding crown, O.  This pusher is used successively for starting, stopping and returning the second hand to zero.  Once it has been stopped, the chronograph cannot be restarted until the second hand has been brought back to zero.  This triple action system is no longer used for wrist chronographs. 

Most chronographs today have two pushers, one which has a single function and the other which has two.  This double action system has the advantage of enabling the chronograph to be restarted without the second hand being previously returned to zero.
