The Panerai is one of the modern cult classics, and the Panerai Luminor Submersible is an outstanding one in the range to be owned. It is not difficult to see why when it is on your wrist.  This is the uncommon submersible model which has the ratcheted rotating bezel. It is built like a tank and to the highest of standards.  It is unique looking attractive looking and makes a very bold statement about the owner.  It is a handsome, striking and daring watch, with a great deal of appeal.  The watch is steeped in history and was used by the Italian war time divers on the 2 man submarines that they rode “horseback” style.  The company still exists today but fortunately making watches for a more passive clientele.  The watch is approximately 7 years old.  It is the automatic version and is the more popular large size which is 44 mm across excluding the crown.  Whilst it is a large watch it is very comfortable to wear and does not feel obtrusive on the wrist. The movement is a Panerai calibre OPIII, which is a modified Swiss made Valjoux 7750 Chronometer grade, 21 jewel movement, with a 42 hour power reserve. The chronograph functions have been stripped out of the movement and the reason the chronograph movement was used is due to the placement of the sub second hand at the 9 position as standard on the Valjoux 7750. It was easier to strip out the chronograph rather than develop a new movement to place the sub seconds at the 9 position. The sub seconds was kept at the 9 position so that the Submersible fell in line with the other hand winding Luminor models. The dial is matte black with tritium markers and tritium luminous filled skeleton hands. These along with the rotating bezel make the PAM 024 a distinctive and handsome looking as well as functional Panerai watch. The water resistance comes from the crown clamp, pushing the crown into place.  Has a sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 300 metres.  Automatic movement with steel case back. The watch is a certified chronometer, there are no boxes or papers but guaranteed one hundred percent authentic and genuine.
