Rolex Sea Dweller 1655 Rail Dial – Rolex Serviced
Excellent condition vintage Rolex Sea Dweller model reference 1665. This is the rare “Rail Dial” Sea Dweller named due to the seconds track on the dial. It is in completely original and untouched condition. The watch is a 5.8 million serial number and dates to 1978. It has the original T39 superdome acrylic crystal which is both thick and strong. I also has the original day wheel with open 6 and 9 numerals, with closed 6 on the number 26 which is correct for this model. It has got the original correct folded link bracelet which is a B stamp 9315 bracelet with rare 380 end pieces. It has the original and beautifully faded fat font bezel insert. It has a wonderful creamy patina that matches across hands, dial plots and bezel pip. The watch is in Excellent condition and has been well looked after and maintained. It was serviced by Rolex in 2004 and comes with a Rolex service receipt from The Rolex Centre in Thailand. The previous owner before it came into stock is UK based and took the watch to Rolex in London to get a new Sea Dweller bracelet fitted to save the old bracelet from any wear, so whilst in his ownership the bracelet has not been used. Since the bracelet was fitted by Rolex UK, they took it into the workshop, checked it against the lost and stolen database and for any sighs of replacement parts. None were found and it comes with the receipt for this new bracelet, which is a further means of provenance. It does not however come with this new bracelet. This is another watch that needs no introduction, as it is the bigger, tougher and more durable brother to the Submariner, which is the most successful and widely known divers watch in the world. Like the Submariner, it is the watch that set the standard in professional divers watches and one that most other divers watches aspire to emulate. It is a true professional instrument watch and one that can endure the toughest of conditions above and below the water. It is equally at home being worn with a suit or for weekend leisure. Needless to say it is an officially certified Swiss chronometer as indicated by the dial markings. It is 1220 metres resistant (4000 feet), has a sturdy uni directional, ratchet operated rotating bezel with screwed down crown and scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The watch is slightly thicker than the submariner as it has added water resistance built into the case. It also has a helium escape valve for decompression purposes. Dimensions are: width is 39.5 mm excluding crown, 43.5 mm including crown and 48 mm lug to lug and thickness is 15 mm.
