Helicopter Pilot’s Watch – Military Issue

Excellent condition Seiko Royal Navy Helicopter Pilot’s watch. Very desirable and collectible watch due to the fact that it is a practical and functional watch and the choice of the British Armed Forces for use with the helicopter pilots. If it is good enough for them, it is certainly good enough for everyday use. These are getting increasingly harder to find and as a result the prices are climbing. It is made in Japan with Japanese made quartz movement. It has a sandblasted all stainless steel case with fixed bars for operational security reasons. The dial is mat black with subsidiary seconds at the 6 position, the thirty minute elapsed timer at 9 and the 1/10th second elapsed timer at the 3 position. When the chronograph is activated, the 10th second timer moves straight into action in a very fast rotation. The inner bezel has sixty second markings, and the chronograph sixty second recorder is the sweep hand. This is comfortable to wear, and an excellent watch. The crystal has got marks on it, used and worn by an RAF pilot. Comes on brand new black Nato strap. Width is 38 mm excluding crown and 40 mm including crown and pushers. Mint and new old stock looking condition Seiko Bullhead automatic chronograph in true 1970's styling. The watch an movement are made in Japan. All stainless steel high quality watch. This is one of the harder to find Seiko watches with a two register chronograph. It has got a bronze sunburst dial with 30/60 minute elapsed timer at the three position and 12 hour elapsed timer at the nine position. The 30 minute timer doubles as a 60 minute timer as the 60 minute iterations are visible below the 30 minute. It has a copper colour tachometric fixed bezel. This is also one of the few Seiko automatic chronographs which can be manually wound. The day and date at the three position which are sat one on top of the other and they are set by the winding crown. Comes on the original bracelet which is full size with signed folding clasp. All in excellent condition with only the smallest of marks on the bezel, otherwise perfect condition inside and out and all functions are working correctly. Beautiful and stylish and striking watch. Excellent condition Seiko Royal Air Force and Royal Navy Helicopter Pilot’s watch. This watch is identical to the genuine Royal Navy issued helicopter pilots watch. It was however issued for the civilian market therefore does not have any military stamps on the case back. Very desirable and collectible watch due to the fact that it is a practical and functional watch and the choice of the British Armed Forces for use with the helicopter pilots. If it is good enough for them, it is certainly good enough for everyday use. It is made in Japan with Japanese made quartz movement. It has a sandblasted all stainless steel case with fixed bars for operational security reasons. The dial is mat black with subsidiary seconds at the 6 position, and the thirty minute elapsed timer at 12. there is a twenty four hour time representation at the 9 position, which is all important when pilots are calculating flight plans, in particular if they are across time zones. Very smooth operating uni directional ratchet rotating bezel and date function. Mint and new looking condition Seiko two register automatic chronograph made in Japan. Outstanding watch with mint condition dial, lovely colours and working to excellent standards. The dial is silver with a lovely contrasting black inner tachometer bezel and black sub dials which have white markigns. The case has got some minor wear to it, but nothing to detract from the value and the originality of this beautiful watch. It has the twelve hour elapsed recorder at the 12 position and the 30 minute elapsed recorder at 6. This sub dial also doubles as a 60 minute elapsed timer as the sixty minute markings are indicatd alongside the thirty minute markings. The chronograph sixty second sweep hand is tipped in red as a final finishing touch. Comes on replacement leather strap but with original Seiko bracelet with Seiko signed clasp. Seiko Bell-Matic Automatic Alarm - with strap and bracelet

Mint and new looking condition vintage 1970's Seiko Bell-Matic Automatic alarm. The dial and case are in mint condition but and so is the crystal. The watch movement is automatic winding, but the alarm needs to be manually wound by using the winding crown at 3. The button at 2 is the alarm on/off button (the out position means the alarm is activated, and the in position stops the alarm). The crown at the 3 position is also used for rotating the internal rotating bezel, and the red pointer on this bezel indicates the time when the alarm is activated. Beautiful mat brown dial with contrasting red alarm indicator, day and date a the 3 position, and original steel bracelet. The watch keeps good time and the alarm works on cue. II Seiko Conversion

Mint and as new condition MK II watches conversion. MK II watches is a US based company which take standard Seiko watches and customise them to greater specifications and converting them into more utility or military style watches. They MK II watches are often referred to as Yao conversions after the owner of the company, Bill Yao. The watch is solid stainless steel with a screw on steel case back. The crown is a screw down crown giving 200 metres of water resistance. Please note this is not tested and since it is a conversion, the water resistance is not guaranteed. The cans is customised and is sandblasted opposed to the original polished steel finish. The dial is new and is a military style dial, as are the hands and there is a the large and distinctive orange minuet hand. The central sweep second hand has a red tip. It has a day and date at the 3 position. The watch has a uni directional ratchet operated rotating twelve hour bezel for independent time recording of twelve hours. This bezel has iterations for the first four hours. The Seiko crystal has been replaced with a thick scratch resistant sapphire crystal, and it comes with the original Seiko crystal as a spare. The watch comes on a grey nato strap but also comes with a thick rubber divers strap. It also comes with a spare black bezel insert. It comes with the Seiko instructions and the original box that MK II send them in. The watch cost £500 (US $975) which by the original owner less than one year ago. Since purchased it has had very little wrist time and it is difficult to see that it has been worn at all. Automatic “Bull Head” Chronograph

Excellent condition Seiko “Bull Head” automatic chronograph. This is a very retro and very 1970’s looking watch in terms of colour scheme and case design. The case is all stainless steel and very thick and chunky, and progressively gets thicker towards the 12 position where the pushers are located. The pushers are in this position for ease of use when timing. This type of design was common in the 1970’s, but never really took over from the conventional location at the 2 and 4 positions. The dial is brown with gold sub registers, and a bronze coloured tachometer on the outside bezel of the watch. The hands and markers are white, but the sweep chronograph hand is yellow. The day and date vertically aligned at the 6 position making a very unusual and attractive appearance. All round beautiful watch. The crystal is marked from normal everyday wear. The back is engraved with the name “Thompson, Mike” along with a serial number of some sort which reads “531-80-2588”. The width is 44 mm. Excellent condition Seiko Navigator Timer GMT automatic wristwatch. These are hard watches to find. The model reference is 6117-6410. It is a handsome looking watch with multiple functions. The GMT hand is red which works like the older Rolex GMT where the hand remains on GMT time for navigational purposes. This hand has got an innovative little upward step in it so it does not rub against the luminous dial markings. The alternative was to raise the centre pinion to raise the hand and increasing the thickness of the case. With the step in the hand, the case remains slimmer. There is an internal rotating bezel which is operated by the crown at the 4 position. The night time hours between 18h00 and 06:00 are indicated by the blue line and they daylight hours are indicated by the red line. The 24 hour position on the bezel is marked by a triangle. Seiko Kinetic wristwatch. Very popular and always sought after Seiko Kinetic watch. It has a quartz operated mechanism which does not use batteries, but instead has an automatic watch style winding rotor to power the mechanism. This is one of the first generation of Seiko kinetics and is designed in a 70’s retro style. It is stainless steel with gold ands, screws and crown. Has a power indicator. Comes on the original Seiko steel and rubber strap which has been sized to fit a 7.5 inch wrist. Has a Seiko scratch resistant Hardlex crystal, screw down crown and the case is solid stainless steel. Excellent condition Seiko Royal Air Force and Royal Navy Helicopter Pilot’s watch. Apart from minor marks to the case, the watch is in excellent condition and it has just had a new crystal fitted. Very desirable and collectible watch due to the fact that it is a practical and functional watch and the choice of the British armed forces for use with the helicopter pilots - however this particular one is un issued. If it is good enough for the military, it is certainly good enough for everyday use. It is made in Japan with Japanese made quartz movement. It has a sandblasted all stainless steel case with fixed bars for operational security reasons. The dial is mat black with subsidiary seconds at the 6 position, and the thirty minute elapsed timer at 12. there is a twenty four hour time representation at the 9 position, which is all important when pilots are calculating flight plans, in particular if they are across time zones. The inner bezel has sixty second markings, and the chronograph sixty second recorder is the sweep hand. This is comfortable to wear, and an excellent watch. Width is 38 mm excluding crown and 40 mm including crown and pushers. Lug to lug is 43 mm and thickness is 19 mm. Ref. SEI 45, sold |
