Made in a pilot chronograph style, this watch bears all of the hallmarks of quality, charisma and style. The watch is a UTC which is a GMT function. The yellow hand rotates the dial every 12 hours, and can be set independently of the main hour hand. When not in use the UTC hand can be synchronised with and hidden under the main hour hand. This is an essential function for pilots. The UTC function has replaced the day function that is present in the standard 356. This is due to space limitations within the case. 103 Titanium Diapal

The
Sinn 103 Ti Diapal is a variation on the 103 Titanium, to create the 103
Titanium Diapal. This combines two of Sinn’s most popular models to
create a watch fit for all purposes. The 103 is the longest running in
Sinn’s range of watches. The Sinn 103 Ti UTC DIAPAL is chronograph
with a completely lubricant free escapement, which is a world first.
Every wristwatch requires a service every few years as the
escapement wheels and pallets need lubricating to avoid friction.
Sinn used the technological innovations of the space program to develop
a lubrication free escapement called DIAPAL, which is a reference to the
friction reducing technique of replacing the ruby pallet stones with
diamonds, hence the name DIAmond PALlets.
The diamond pallets are then fitted to the traditional movements,
in this case the Valjoux 7750, so you have the tried and tested Valjoux
7750, which is the world standard for automatic chronographs, which has
been modified with space age technology to make it friction free.
This is a technology which has been years in the making at the
Sinn labs. In addition to
the movement The cases are treated with “Tegiment” process.
This is the process where the ice-hardened outer layer of special
anti-corrosive stainless steel is hardened to 1,200 Vickers which is
four times harder than nickeliferous high grade stainless steel used in
other high quality stainless steel watches.
This steel process is rarely found in watches, but is more often
found in surgical instruments, and aerospace and aviation. The bracelet
is treated in the same process to give it equal strength to the case.

The movement is a modified Valjoux 7750, and referred to as a Valjoux–ETA 7760. The automatic winding rotor has been removed and replaced with a hand winding mechanism. This has been done to satisfy the enthusiasts of classical and original timepieces who appreciate the aesthetics and the daily interaction with the hand winding mechanism. The Regulator clock was originated in the 18th century by Louis Berthould. He devised the regulator dial. His idea was that the minute hand should be very dominant, with hours and seconds rotating within separate dials integrated into the watch face. For the very first time this arrangement made the minute hand stand out at all times. At the time it was a groundbreaking invention, but one which also took account of an emerging trend: people were becoming increasingly interested in measuring the smallest unites of time. They sensed a growing urge to keep a precise, uniform track of time wherever they happened to be. This assisted from industry, trade, communications, science, navigation as well as everyday schedules such as keeping to correct timetables for transportation. The new dial was incorporated in pendulum clocks called regulators. The regulator clocks became very precise and were used for determining official standards until the 1960’s when they were replaced by millisecond accurate atomic clocks. Today the precision and aesthetics of a mechanical watch hold an enduring fascination for us. The ageless principle of its working mechanism finds a congenial sequel in the 6100 Regulateur series created by Sinn. An updated version of the pendulums that featured in the historic regulators still oscillate in these watches. Round pendulums consisting of screws and a balance wheel in this model, ensure the steady precise progression of the hour, minute and second hands. The movement has a Glucydur screw balance, a Triovis fine adjustment system, a Nivarox 1 spring balance and elaborate movement with Geneva stripes, diamond cut bridges and blued screws – all visible through the sapphire display back. In the box, there is a collapsible eye loupe allowing the owner of the watch to admire the movement in close detail. The movement is 17 jewels and is hand wound. The balance wheel oscillates at 18,000 semi oscillations per hour. It is anti magnetic to DIN 8309 specification and shock proof to DIN 8308 specification. The new dial was incorporated in pendulum clocks called regulators. The regulator clocks became very precise and were used for determining official standards until the 1960’s when they were replaced by millisecond accurate atomic clocks. Today the precision and aesthetics of a mechanical watch hold an enduring fascination for us. The ageless principle of its working mechanism finds a congenial sequel in the 6100 Regulateur series created by Sinn. An updated version of the pendulums that featured in the historic regulators still oscillate in these watches. Round pendulums consisting of screws and a balance wheel in this model, ensure the steady precise progression of the hour, minute and second hands. It is also no accident that the traditional image of the Regulateur with its single hand is geared to the minute as the central measure of time. The dial is guilloched, the appliqués contrasting with the background and the stylish finely drawn numerals convincingly emulate historic templates. The Sinn Regulateur reflects the company’s self conception and corporate philosophy down to the last detail, and it is the perfect compliment to the company’s line of classical masterpieces. It has a scratch resistant sapphire front and back showing off the modified, but traditional and well established Unitas 6498 movement. The movement is modified by Sinn, known as the SZ-04 and in doing so, Sinn have created a conclusive chronometer style regulator. The movement has a Glucydur screw balance, a Triovis fine adjustment system, a Nivarox 1 spring balance and elaborate movement with Geneva stripes, diamond cut bridges and blued screws – all visible through the sapphire display back. In the box, there is a collapsible eye loupe allowing the owner of the watch to admire the movement in close detail. The movement is 17 jewels and is hand wound. The balance wheel oscillates at 18,000 semi oscillations per hour. It is anti magnetic to DIN 8309 specification and shock proof to DIN 8308 specification. The case is stainless steel to DIN WNR 1,4435. It is polished and satinised. The crown is a D3 crown with double O ring gasket and no screws. This is the GSG 9 version of the outstanding and very successful model, the 142 automatic chronograph. The GSG 9 is an elite German military unit and this watch commemorates that unit. It is superbly presented in an aluminum carry case which also contains a CD on the GSG 9 unit, military lightweight knife, key ring torch, bracelet changing tool, and both leather strap and titanium bracelet. The watch itself is titanium, and is argon filled to prevent moisture penetrating the watch, and a water absorbing capsule on the side of the watch to assist in the same process. Sinn 358 Jubilaum. It is the jubilee edition watch to commemorate Sinn’s 50th anniversary. The model was launched at the Basel fair in March 2011. It is a strictly limited edition and limited to 500 pieces only worldwide, so it is possibly a future classic. Many discontinued and rarer Sinn watches sell well above their original retail prices. To create the new Sinn 358, Sinn designed a brand new case in the style of one of the most popular watches, the 356, but with larger dimensions at their in house case making facility in Glashutte, Germany. This watch also features Sinn's dehumidifying technology which protects the movement oils from humidity and keeps the dial from fogging when moving from a hot to cold environment (such as an air conditioned room). This technology consists of three components - the use of inert gas injected into the case, a copper sulphate capsule to absorb humidity and special EDR (Extreme Diffusion Reducing) seals to reduce the infiltration of moisture into the case. Sinn pays attention to small details, and in this case a problem that affects many watches as they age and are exposed to the sun. Just as UV radiation can damage the skin, it also can cause the dial color to fade and change colors over time. Sinn uses a special electroplating process to make this dial UV resistant and to preserve the charcoal grey color. It has got a sapphire crystal to the front and back and the front sapphire is domed. It is also pressure resistant, so will remain intact and working well under high pressures and sudden pressure changes. Sinn has modified the base movement to a new design. The modified modified Valjoux 7750 calibre is called the SZ05 and the main modification is to relocate chronograph registers to 3 and 9 to balance the dial display and make it more in keeping with vintage chronographs where this sub dial arrangement is regularly seen. The movement is beautifully decorated as one would expect for the 50 year anniversary model. Sinn also changed the function of the counter at 3 to create a 60 minute counter rather than the traditional 30 minutes seen on Valjoux automatic chronograph movements. Sinn navigational board clock. This is genuine navigational board instrument which can be fitted to aircraft. Indeed it has been known to have been fitted in private and professional aircraft in it’s current format and it’s previous formats. Naturally, this clock can be used for this very purpose or it can be mounted and used as a desk clock. It is made to professional standards and has a movement commonly used in aircraft instruments. This is the hand wound Revue Thommen B17. It is a 17 jewelled Swiss made hand wound movement operating at 18,000 bph. It is an 8 day movement so only needs winding up once per week. The case is matte black galvanised aluminium. The clock has got a 12 hour chronograph. The twelve hour elapsed timer is in the sub dial at the 12 position. It also has a one hour elapsed timer which is the central hand with the arrow tip. The sixty second elapsed timer is the other central second hand which is a sweep second hand. It also features an internal rotating bezel which is operated by the engine turned knurled button at the bottom right. The chronograph is started, stopped and reset by the button on the top right. The movement is wound up by the engine turned knurled button at the bottom left. It is an attractive and functional looking clock, suitable for professional use or as a desk clock if mounted.
