Taken from christopher Ward website - Time to honour - CW are proud to release on pre-order this specially RAF commissioned limited edition watch to commemorate this years 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 1940. Commenting on the commission, Squadron Leader Stuart Balfour, Directorate of Defence PR (RAF) said, "With ties between the brand and the RAF already well established at individual Squadron level, Christopher Ward of London was the obvious choice to create a timepiece to commemorate this very important anniversary." The design of the automatic watch is based on the Air Ministry's military issue pilots watch of the time, (reference number 6B/159) and carries the Kings crown and laurel wreathed RAF crest of the period. Other unique features include hour and minute hands formed in the shape of the propeller blades of the iconic Spitfire which was so central to securing victory. The Battle of Britain was, arguably, the most important military battle of the 20th Century, however, production of the watch will be limited to 1940 pieces worldwide making it highly collectible and is available to pre-order ahead of the June launch. As a British company we are both proud and delighted to be working with the RAF in helping to commemorate the British battle that most symbolises the destiny of our nation. Has Swiss made Seletta SW 200 automatic movement, scratch resistant anti reflective sapphire crystal, marine grade steel case 316L, RAF Kings crest and laurel leaf design on the dial, Air Ministry reference 6B/159 engraved on the solid case back. Water resistance is 50 metres. It comes on a replacement leather strap seen in the picture, it also comes with the unused original leather strap with original deployant clasp.
