IWC Portofino Automatic Chronograph
Mint condition IWC Portofino Automatic chronograph. Originally purchased from authorised IWC dealers, Selfridges, on Oxford Street London in 2013. It comes complete with boxes and paperwork and a valuation from an independent seller for £4,250. This is a classic and an outstanding looking watch. IWC have been making specialised and high quality watches in Switzerland since 1868. Many of the IWC vintage watches are now prized collectors items. They are a company who continue to produce high quality and unique watches for a more demanding current market. It has a polished stainless steel case with attractive looking lugs and long flat pushers which make the chronograph easy to operate. Similarly, it has got a large and prominent crown which is also signed with the IWC logo. The watch has got a matte silver dial and a day and date at the 3 position. It comes on the original brown leather strap which is signed with signed steel IWC buckle. The strap has had very little use as it was worn on a replacement leather strap. It has an anti reflective convex sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 3 ATM. The watch has got an automatic Swiss made IWC Calibre 79320 movement, operating at 28 800 vibrations per hour. In a family with such a clear commitment to discretion as the Portofino, a chronograph could well be looked upon as a black sheep. Unless, of course, the intermediate and aggregate timing functions made possible by the 79320 calibre are so meticulously and discreetly integrated into the dial as in this model. It was for this reason alone that the case was increased to 41 millimeters, the extra 3 millimeters providing space for a day display as well as the date. All this without detracting in the slightest from the watch’s inimitably classical shape and lines One for the discerning in taste and a perfect accompanist to any decent watch collection. Comes complete with all original boxes instructions, papers, polishing cloth and warranty card. Please note that first picture in this sequence is a scan from the IWC catalogue to give a better picture of the dial as the dial is difficult to photograph. IWC reference number for this item is IW3783-02. Dimensions are as follows. The width is 42 mm excluding crown and overall width including the crown is 45 mm, Lug to lug is 48 mm, Thickness is 14 mm.
