Omega Speedmaster “CK2998” Limited Edition

Brand new condition, three months old, and according to the previous owner, worn just 3 or 4 times so can be considered as brand new as not a single visible mark on it. It comes complete with box, papers and warranty card showing it is a UK watch from Ernest Jones in Manchester in September 2016 so just five months old when taken into stock with the balance of the warrnaty remaining. This is number 1460 of a limited run of 2998. The original Omega CK2998 was released in 1959 and has since become one of the most sought after vintage Speedmasters in the world. Today, Omega has used this classic model as inspiration for the new Omega Speedmaster “CK2998” Limited Edition, an updated model for a new generation of fans. In keeping with tradition, the watch retains its classic Alpha hands and symmetrical stainless steel case, with three sub-dials enriched by a deep blue. This colour theme continues on the bezel with its tachymeter base scale, the minutes track, as well as on the leather strap which includes subtle beige stitching. For the chronograph seconds hand, OMEGA has reintroduced the “lollipop” style which is linked to the original model. This, along with the hour and minute hands and tachymeter base scale on the bezel, is coated in Super-LumiNova for increased visibility in dark conditions. In a rare move, the original Speedmaster Seahorse medallion has been reintroduced and embossed on the screw in caseback. The Omega Calibre 1861 was the iconic movement used in the very first Moonwatch. For today’s model, Omega has retained the same movement to offer a true sense of authenticity. Due to its rarity, only 2,998 of these collectable watches have been produced. This truly is a watch that inherits the DNA of the OMEGA brand. Based on the first Speedmaster design, it is a model that was made with racing car drivers in mind. Since then, its spirit of adventure has continued on Earth and even beyond.
