Rolex Submariner – Transitional Model 168000 – Original Box and Papers
Mint condition Rolex Submariner date, reference 16610. This is the rarest of all sapphire glass Submariners which is 168000 known as the triple zero. It is transitional watch, which was made with the case of the then current 16610 with the movement from the previous 16800. The papers correctly say that it is a 16800 but the case is stamped with the extra zero, making it the triple zero model. It was supposedly made for only 9 months. The watch R serial reference dating to 1988. It was originally purchased from authorised Rolex dealers, Tai Hong Hung, in Singapore, and has the box set, original guarantee/chronometer certificate, booklets, wallet, other papers, anchor and hang tag with the model reference and serial number on it. The submariner is a watch that needs no introduction, as it is unquestionably the most successful and widely known divers watch in the world. It is the watch that set the standard in professional divers watches and one that most other divers watches aspire to emulate. This watch has been used by the military for issue to special forces divers. It has been issued to divers working for under water pipe laying companies. It has been issued to divers working on oil rigs, and used by non commercial divers all over the world – such is the reliability, robustness and practicality of this watch. It is 300 metres resistant, sturdy uni directional, ratchet operated rotating bezel with screwed down crown and scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It comes complete with all boxes, papers, chronometer card, and hang tags, with serial number on the hang tag, there is a wallet not present. Dimensions are: width is 39.5 mm excluding crown, 43.5 mm including crown and 47 mm lug to lug and thickness is 14 mm.
