Zenith are a Swiss company steeped in history since 1865, and are a world class organisation producing some of the finest chronometric instruments on the market today. They are innovators and style setters. Since the foundation of the company, Zenith have been one of the most prestigious names in fine watch making, combining luxury, craftsmanship and know-how to produce the most perfect timekeeping mechanisms ever. Such a degree of excellence is not solely a matter of technical expertise, it also requires a visionary approach, demanding standards and genuine devotion. Many of the Zenith chronograph movements – such as the El Primero, has set the world standard in chronographs, and is acclaimed as the international reference for mechanical chronograph movements. The movement in this watch is the peak of technical achievement and a brilliant combination of accomplishment and innovation. The Zenith movements are distinctive with the integration of component parts achieved after extensive research. This is to produce minimal size and optimise the space available, incorporating complicated technical features, which are robust, accurate and reliable. This movement was first introduced in the 1950’s and has been refined ever since to become the leading chronograph movement in the world today. The extreme reliability of the movements is the result of a long quest for perfection covering everything down to the finest detail. The name Zenith has achieved world wide acclaim in recognition of the elegance and accuracy of the watches and Zenith still aspire to innovate, in the relentless pursuit of technical perfection. Zenith are one of the few companies that can call themselves a manufacturer, as they design, manufacture and assemble all components in their own factories. This is the ChronoMaster with the el Primero movement. The el Primero has been long regarded by watch experts the world over, as the finest automatic chronograph movement ever made. It has in the past been used in some of the most celebrated watch companies watches in the world for use in their own watches. The technical qualities of the El Primero allow it to easily pass the COSC testing, and this watch as would be expected is a certified chronometer. This is one watch that has it all. It has a full chronograph function, with the twelve hour elapsed timer at the 6 position, the thirty second elapsed timer at the 3 position, the 60 second elapsed timer is the sweep chronograph hand and the watch subsidiary seconds are at the 9 position. The watch also has a triple and full calendar with the date at the 4 position, the day at the 11 position and the month at the 2 position. It has a full working moon phase cut out in a window inside the 12 hour elapsed timer sub dial. It is all stainless steel, with beautiful gently curved sapphire crystal, display back, square pushers, genuine crocodile leather strap, though showing signs of wear, but comes with spare replacement, and original Zenith pin buckle. To top it all it is a certified chronometer. You don’t get much more in a single watch. The display back shows off the technical genius of the El Primero, the development of which dates back to 1969. In addition, you can simply admire the pure artistry of the most famous automatic chronograph movement ever made. For the Patek Philippe watch which have the same functions as this Zentih, but famously not quite as good as the Zenith, the discerning customer will need to pay around £30,000. Current UK retail price is £5,500 (US ,800). It comes with box, papers, instructions and chronometer certificate. However, as sometimes happens, there has been a mix up, the reference on the warranty is for the 18k gold Chronomaster and the case and movement are from a different Zenith, so there has been a mix up in the box and paperwork somewhere along the line. Warning: do not alter any functions before referring to the instructions first, as incorrect adjustments will damage the movement. The dimensions are as follows: Width is 40 mm excluding crown and 42 mm including crown, Lug to lug is 46 mm, Thickness is 13.5 mm.
