Heuer Reference 12 Hand Winding Chronograph

RESERVED

Excellent condition and rare Heuer Reference 12 hand winding chronograph. There are much more common Heuers such as the Carrera and Autavia which go up to the £5000 mark, but this is the much rarer and much cheaper Reference 12. This watch comes on the original Heuer bracelet with signed Heuer folding clasp. The case and bracelet are black PVD coated steel. It has got a hand winding Valjoux 7734 chronograph movement. This movement was used in the majority of watches with this dial configuration throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s due to its reliability and robustness. This watch dates to circa 1979 and was one of the last Heuers to be made before the company ceased trading for a number of years. They were subsequently taken over by Techniques d'Avant-Garde then reformed as TAG Heuer with later watches all having TAG Heuer logos on the dial. The dial is symmetrical, well laid out with large Heuer shield logo so instantly recognisable. Due to the quartz invasion of the early 1980’s fewer and fewer automatic and manual wind watches were being sold so watches from this period become something of a rarity.
